PokerStars Announces the Launch of the UIKPT

New Ireland and UK Poker Tour

Just what is the UKIPT you may be wondering? It is the New Ireland and UK Poker Tour that PokerStars will be kicking off on December 11th and run until December 14th at the Radisson Hotel in Galway, Ireland as part of the Irish Poker Championships.

Finally - poker players in Ireland and the UK will have a touring tournament series geared just for them! And with buy-ins from £500+£50 to £1,000+£100 for UK-based tournaments and €1,000+€100 and €2,000 for the Irish events, both rookies and professionals can afford to buy-in.

And even if you can’t afford those buy-ins, PokerStars will be running a host of satellite qualifiers where an investment of just a few dollars can win you your seat!

 Hoping to attract as many players as possible, the UKIPT will be held in several centralized locations throughout the UK and the Emerald Isles including Manchester, where February 11th through the 14th, the first UK event will be held at the Grosvenor G-Casino. Other venues which have been announced include UK stops in Nottingham and Brighton. In Ireland, the tour will land in Killarney and Dublin, which will be the last stop before the Grand Final is held at the EPT London event in October 2010. There will also be at least one UKIPT stop in Scotland, but as yet the venue has not been announced.

Expecting to attend the UKIPT events will be some very famous names including Team PokerStars PRO Vicky Coren and former English football player Teddy Sheringham. When asked about her thoughts on the new UKIPT events, Vicky Coren said, “This is an incredibly exciting addition to the range of PokerStars live events. Here is our own local British and Irish tour, nicely accessible for those who can't travel abroad very often or who save their foreign travel for larger international events."

Not only will winners of each event pocket the lion’s share of the cash prizepool, but they will also snap up a buy-in to the PokerStars.com EPT London final event. The tour will also have its own Leaderboard race, with some great prizes up for grabs including a seat in a £10,000 FreeRoll for the top 100 players. Plus, the top three players on the Leaderboard will receive a sponsorship to season two UKIPT events.
