If you happened to be watching any Football Sunday October 11th on FOX, maybe you caught the premier of the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge. And if you didn’t, you missed a great new poker show!

There is a wave of poker on TV these days, but this new show is something refreshingly different. Formatted more like a game show, a contestant faces off in a heads-up battle against a professional poker player from team PokerStars. There are a total of 4 rounds which the contestant has a chance to win:

Round One: Contestant plays a PokerStars Pro head-up with four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and Team PokerStars.net Pro Daniel Negreanu by their side coaching them. If the contestant wins this round, they walk away with a seat in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) tournament to be held in January 2010 in the beautiful Bahamas. Then the contestant has to decide if they want to walk away with their PCA prize or play another Pro for $25,000 cash.

Round Two: Contestant plays another Pro, with Daniel Negreanu coaching them from an isolation booth via a headset. If the contestant wins this round, they can quit and take home their PCA prize and $25,000 in cash. If the contestant loses this round, they go home empty handed.

Round Three: The coaching is over as the contestant faces off against their coach, Daniel Negreanu as they play for a guaranteed $100,000. If the contestant defeats Daniel, they will advance to round four and no matter the outcome, will keep their winnings – from this point on they can’t lose!

Round Four: These rounds are played in the grand finale where the contestant once again battles Daniel – this time for One Million Dollars!

In the inaugural event on October 11th, a young, nervous priest named Father Andrew, from South Carolina, proved his faith served him well when he won all three rounds. Donating his $100,000 to his church building fund, he will be back to vie for the grand prize of a million dollars which he will also donate to his church.
