Irish Winter Festival Titan Poker Players

Titan Poker delegates

Anyone who wants to score at a major live poker event needs to be playing in satellites at Titan Poker.

Just take Igor Kurganov from Germany ("lechuckpoker") for example. He won a $4,000 prize package in the Irish Winter Festival Super Satellite that Titan Poker put on. Oh and maybe we should mention he also won an $8,000 prize package in the APT Macau Super Satellite! When asked about his big wins at Titan Poker, Kurganov said, “I'm happy about the opportunity to take part in both tournaments and visit both countries. Qualifying through Titan Poker makes everything so much easier.”

From October 24th through October 26th, 32 Titan Poker players landed in Dublin to play in the three day Irish Winter Festival. When Day One started at the City West Hotel, 397 poker players from around the world showed up to register for the event. But when the lights went out on the first day, only 181 players remained.

Starting Day 2 was Titan Poker's delegate Igor Kurganov, who was chip leader with his stack of 56,475. Not far behind him was Irene van Loon, the only female Irish Winter Festival participant representing Titan Poker. With her stack of 41,250 chips, she was well ahead of the other Titan players, Jeanluc Dutto with 24,550, and Orjan Sundqvist with 24,550 in chips.

Day 2 was fast and furious, with Sundqvist being eliminated, three of Titan Poker’s players were still alive out of 24 finalists which included; van Loon, Kurganov and Dutto. Regarding the play during Day 2, Kurganov admitted it had been quite an experience when he said, “This day has been like a roller coaster.”

The three remaining Titan Poker players got a surprise on the final day when a lucky draw put van Loon who was in 23rd place at televised Table 1, Dutto who was in 21st place at Table 2 and Kurganov who was holding onto his 3rd place spot at Table 3. Celebrating was in order, not just because these three would be on television, but because they had come in the money since 24 places were paid. A big drawback for Kurganov happened when he was put at Table 3 which had big stacks he would have to run through to stay alive. He commented on his bad luck by saying, “I lost tens of thousands of chips because of this draw.”

Irene van Loon finished the tournament in 14th place, winning $7,200 and Kurganov was eliminated 5th, pocketing €35,900. In the end it was heads-up between two Michaels, O’ Sullivan and Murphy, with O’ Sullivan taking down the €143,000 first place prize money.

The next time you want to attend a live poker event, don’t forget to join Igor Kurganov at Titan Poker, where satellites are non-stop for some of the biggest land based tournaments around!
