Holdem Hawk
Precise Odds Calculator and Opponent Stats

Texas hold’em has become a very popular and competitive poker game, and being a winner requires strategic play. By watching your opponent’s every move you can learn the ins and outs of their playing style and then pick them apart by betting into their weak hands or backing off and saving your money when you know they have you beat. In other words, you have to figure out when to hold’em and when to fold’em.

In order to do that, you have to be able to calculate playable outs—the number of cards that could come and improve your hand—and pot odds—the odds of hitting your hand when you are drawing, without considering future bets. Most Poker Pros can figure this out in any given situation, but narrowing that down to a win chance % (WC%) is a task even the smartest Poker Pro couldn’t do in their head fast enough to matter, especially in a fast-moving online poker game.

But why struggle with all those complicated mathematical analyses when you can get the edge you need with Hold’em Hawk? HAWK watches your opponents and makes all the calculations for you. All you have to know is how to use those numbers to win more money at the tables—feed on the weak (fish) players but beware of the strong (shark) players. That’s a winning strategy to just about anything in life, but especially Texas Hold’em.

The concept is actually quite simple. Player outs will be color-coded green if they are greater than the pot odds, which means it is safe to proceed as you have positive expectations. But if the player outs are less than the pot odds, they will be color-coded red, which means there isn’t enough money in the pot to justify proceeding and you should probably fold and save your money.

Hold’em Hawk gives you detailed outs for each hand rank, which adds up to the total playable outs. And that all important WC% column lets you know what percent of the time you will win if you hit that hand rank. After all, what’s the point in drawing to something if you won’t win with it?

With Hold’em Hawk, you can easily see if the table you are playing at is tight or loose and session stats reveal how each of your opponents plays. The VP$IP, column tells you the percent of flops they see; the lower the number, the tighter they are—the less flops they see, which tells you that their starting hand quality is selective and usually they only see the flop with premium hands. The PFR column shows the percent of times they raise pre-flop. Higher tells you the player raises with anything, but if lower, beware as they likely have a monster hand. PFA, or Post Flop Aggression, indicates how aggressive they are after the flop; a lower number means they are more passive.
